Why Spay & Neuter

Spay & Neuter Clinics

For almost two decades, the Antigua & Barbuda Humane Society has been conducting low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinics at the animal shelter.

This initiative has allowed thousands of cats and dogs to be sterilized. The surgeries, originally performed by Dr. Radcliffe Robins, are now being performed by Dr. Diandra Payne, the Humane Society’s Veterinarian.

Our low-cost clinics are EC$100.00 per animal (cat or dog) and are held every other Friday at the animal shelter. Please Contact Us for an appointment. Due to the limited space, pets who do not have an appointment will not be seen by the veterinarian.

Since the introduction of the Dogs Registration & Control Act, 2006, it is the law that all dogs over the age of 6 months be microchipped and licensed and wear an official dog tag. The annual licence fee is just EC$20.00 or EC$45.00 for three years. If your dog is still intact, the annual fee is EC$50.00. Your dog will need to come in with you in order for us to scan and read the microchip.
